Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a safety recall involving certain Tundra vehicles produced between 30th June 2021 – 7th March 2025 (inclusive). There are 1,532 vehicles involved in the Australian market.
The involved vehicles are equipped with two reverse lamp assemblies, each containing a multi-layer vent patch which, among other things, provides protection from water intrusion. The multi-layer vent patch may separate over time due to thermal cycling, compromising the adhesive and allowing water to enter an assembly. Water in the reverse lamp assembly could corrode the internal circuit board, connectors and/or the wire harness and cause a lamp not to illuminate. If both reverse lamps do not illuminate when the vehicle is operating in reverse, the driver’s view to the rear can be limited when reversing during low ambient light conditions, and there may be no indication to others that the vehicle is operating in reverse. This can increase the risk of a collision.
For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace both reverse lamp assemblies free of charge to owners.
Completion of this recall will take approximately 2 hours. Depending on the Dealer's work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.
Toyota Australia will contact all owners of involved vehicles to provide details of this safety recall campaign. Owners are asked to keep their contact details up to date with Toyota so future communications can be received.
Owners with additional questions or concerns are asked to please contact their local/preferred Toyota Dealer in the first instance or the Toyota Recall Campaign Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Mon-Fri 8.00am-7.00pm AEST). Please quote your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
