Toyota Australia Recalls Kluger Vehicles Due To Front Bumper Cover

Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a safety recall involving Kluger vehicles produced between March 2021 to early August 2023. There are approximately 29,900 vehicles involved in the Australian market.

The involved vehicles are equipped with a resin front lower bumper cover assembly, connected with mounting tabs. If there is minor impact to the lower front bumper cover assembly that causes the mounting tabs to detach from the vehicle during normal operation, one or more parts of this assembly could detach, which could become a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash or injury for other road users.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota Dealers will inspect the mounting tabs of the upper front bumper cover for damage. If no damage is found, dealers will install retention hardware with an improved design. If damage to the front bumper cover assembly is found, dealers will replace the upper and lower front bumper cover free of charge to vehicle owners.

Inspection and installation of retention hardware will take approximately 1 hour. In a small number of cases the bumper cover may need to be replaced, and the repair time will take approximately 2.4 hours. However, depending on the Dealer's work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.

Toyota Australia will provide all owners of involved vehicles details of this safety recall campaign by SMS, email and/or mail to their last known address. Customers are asked to keep their contact details up to date with Toyota so future communications can be received.
