Bendigo Toyota & The Community

Bendigo Health Foundation

With over 3,500 staff and covering an area a quarter the size of Victoria, Bendigo Health is a 653 bed service that treats over 37,000 in-patients, deals with over 45,000 emergency attendances and 1200 babies born each year. These services are complemented by a 60-bed rehabilitation unit, eight bed critical care unit and five operating theatres where around 10,000 surgical procedures are performed annually.

Bendigo Health has been fundraising since the early 1800s. The Bendigo Health Foundation team, with volunteer support, is responsible for all fundraising for the organisation. Monies raised through the foundation, fund various aspects towards improving patient care.

Bendigo Toyota has been a proud supporter of Bendigo Health for a number of years. Our partnership with the Bendigo Health Foundation is more than 7 years old and continues to grow. Bendigo Toyota supports the Foundation by providing a Toyota Hilux to help with fundraising activities. The use of the Hilux means the Foundation doesn’t have to find money in its budget for a vehicle.

Bendigo Toyota is also one of the Bendigo Health Foundation/Bendigo Bank Fun Run major sponsors. The Fun Run is held in early November through the streets of the Bendigo CBD.

Bendigo Spirit

The Bendigo Spirit - Women's National Basketball League

Bendigo Toyota has been proud sponsors of the Bendigo Spirit since it formed in 2007. The team, which is only one of two regional teams in Australia to compete in the WNBL, provides a pathway for girls to reach the highest level of basketball, from right here in Bendigo. The Spirit is also the only Bendigo sporting team to compete in a national competition.

The Spirit played their first ever WNBL game at their home court, at the Bendigo Stadium on Saturday October 6 2007 against the Dandneong Rangers and claimed an historic 87-66 victory.

In the nine seasons since, the Spirit have gone on to win back to back WNBL Championships in the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons and were runners-up in the 2014/2015 season.

Bendigo Toyota happily supplies the team with vehicles each season, while a number of Bendigo Toyota staff can often be found court side at home games.

The OTIS Foundation

The OTIS Inspiration

The Otis Foundation was inspired by Judy Burley (1963 - 2000). Judy was a teacher with a passion for social justice who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 29. She had a vision to deliver the peace, nurturing and comfort she found in nature to others faced with a similar challenge.

About The OTIS Foundation

OTIS are a small but rapidly expanding not-for-profit organisation delivering tangible assistance at a grass roots level to Australians from all backgrounds and all walks of life. They operate without discrimination, with a focus on supporting women with breast cancer.

Bendigo Foodshare

Bendigo Foodshare

A Million Meals in March

Bendigo Toyota are proud to once again be supporters of Bendigo Foodshare in 2016.

We immediately jumped at the chance to help Foodshare after hearing of the hidden poverty levels that are a reality for so many people in our community.

Poverty doesn't discriminate…it can affect people struggling with homelessness, addictions, but also professionals who may find themselves out of a job or underemployed with loans and commitments to meet.

Foodshare does an incredible job of sourcing and distributing food throughout the region to those in need, be it through schools, community groups and emergency relief organisations.

The Millon Meals in March campaign is a brilliant way for Bendigo to lend a hand. We here at Bendigo Toyota are aiming to fill the tub of a new Hilux with cash and non perishable items throughout the month. We encourage everyone to grab a few extra cans of food, bags of rice, boxes of cereal or jars of vegemite next time they're at the supermarket to place in the back.

The Hilux will be set up in our Bendigo Toyota showroom throughout the month and will also be present at a number of IGA BBQ's. If you spot it, make sure you throw in your loose change or food items. Help us Fill it for Foodshare.
